"I don't remember his name, but I remember he got so wasted at the office Christmas party 5 years ago that he threw up in the shredder."
Stories are memorable. A story format can make your content easy to read, and to remember. Storytelling can be applied to technical writing, marketing copy, your CV, presentations, and any content you create.
To try storytelling in your work, here are some resources that helped me:
💡 If you want to apply a story structure to your content: Try 'Storyteller Tactics' from Pip Decks
Your audience should not need a PhD in statistics to understand your graphs. Storytelling with Data demonstrates how to get your point across effectively when presenting data.
Into the Woods discusses the underlying structure of story with examples from television and cinema. If you want to know how stories are shaped, and what makes them relatable, this is a great guide.
💡 If you need to illustrate data: Try 'Storytelling with Data' by Cole N. Knaflic
💡 If you want to dig deeper into story structures: Try 'Into the Woods' by John Yorke
Storyteller Tactics is a set of 56 cards for brainstorming, planning, and delivering your content in a story format. If you need inspiration, these cards can help you find a proven structure for your information.
